Vincas

Armed with the quintessential, suburban 80’s camcorder and an innate ability for storytelling, Vincas (pronounced Vin-suss) made his directorial debut at the age of 14, documenting the gritty, NYC skateboarding scene that arose in response to its glossy, west coast counterpart. By the mid-90’s, not only had he become a sponsored skateboarder in his own right, but he teamed up with his brother to produce two snowboarding films, aptly named “Victims” and “Yeah,” which have since achieved cult status.
Upon graduating Rutgers in 1997 with an individualized degree in Film, Cinema Studies and Creative Writing, Vincas was one of the first, directorial pioneers of his generation to harness the opportunities in the “new” digital landscape — producing and directing paid video content for a number of skate and snowboarding websites, in addition to being a contributing writer for Transworld Skate & Snowboarding Magazines during the early years of the X Games.

In recent years,  Vincas has honed his skills directing and editing content for some of the world’s most iconic brands, including: Google, Harmon Kardon, Geico, JBL, Ruby Tuesday, AKG, and Canon. In 2006 he embarked on a seven year odyssey to bring a passion project to life. Released in 2014, “The Invisible Front” is a cinematic exploration of his heritage and one that Vincas co-wrote, produced and directed. Having worked closely with Lithuania’s Ministry of Culture, Ministry of Defense, and the Office of the President, this feature-length documentary about Lithuania’s armed resistance to the Soviet Union during WWII was eagerly received by the international festival circuit; gaining praise from critics and historians alike for his “authentic, archival war footage recreations” and “remarkable storytelling” — not only taking home the Audience Choice Award at the 2014 Vilnius International Film Festival, but recently securing distribution in both Europe and the United States. Vincas resides with his young family in the New York metro area. When not busy with advertising, he can be found teaching his children the finer points of life, like how to skateboard.
